Come for Winter Adventures
Winter in the Valley means lots of snow and crisp temperatures — ideal for winter enthusiasts. With an abundant amount of snowfall in our region each year, the opportunities to experience the quintessential Canadian winter are endless.
Explore more than 2,500km of groomed TOP and local snowmobile trails which take sledders through a variety of terrain over classic Canadian Shield. Ride the infamous RAP (Round Algonquin Park) Tour — a 900km loop that travels around Algonquin Provincial Park and through Ontario's Snow Country, or witness the thrill of ice oval racing at the annual Bonnechere Cup in Eganville.
A variety of ski hills, including Ontario's highest and Canada's shortest verticals, are found scattered throughout Ontario's Adventure Playground, offering day and night skiing/snowboarding, tubing, special events and, of course, après ski relaxation. Numerous Nordic trail systems, such as Forest Lea, Madawaska Nordic, Opeongo Hills Nordic and Silver Spoon, offer a range of mixed forests and meadows for the x-country skier or snowshoer.
Dog sledding, ice fishing, ice climbing, pond skating and hockey round out the list of winter experiences. Carnivals, such as Pembroke's Snospree, Petawawa's Cabin Fever, Douglas' Frosty Fun, Renfrew's Frewfest and Killaloe's Snow Fun provide yet another reason to celebrate winter in the Ottawa Valley.
